The S&P 500 is essentially flat on the session, but that calm headline masks a violent rotation underneath: the small-cap Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) is up 1.17% and touched a fresh session high above its 285 call wall, while the Nasdaq-100 ETF (QQQ) is down 1.42% and sitting well below its key 720 call wall. The divergence is as wide as this morning's setup suggested — and it has not closed.
Meanwhile, SPY is trading within pennies of its 769 max pain level with 73.9% of today's 0DTE volume concentrated at that strike. The VIX has dropped 4.68% to 16.31 even as equities drift lower — an unusual combination that keeps vol sellers in control and the index pinned.
GEX walls are price levels where dealers hedge aggressively. Price tends to gravitate toward Max Pain and stall near walls.
