Wednesday's session is doing exactly what the negative-GEX, 0DTE expiry setup implied it might — but not quite how the morning called it. SPY opened at 771.43, probed a session low of 769.25, then crawled back to 771.28, sitting just above the 768.0 max pain level. The index hasn't run, hasn't broken — it's compressing.
QQQ is the cleanest story on the board: it tagged a session low of 720.32 (a hair above the 720.0 put wall), bounced, and is now trading at 722.23 — sitting squarely below the 723.0 max pain level and within striking distance of the 725.0 call wall. With 0DTE volume at 74.3% of SPY's total flow and negative GEX across all four instruments, the afternoon session is a pin-or-break coin flip heading into the close.
GEX walls are price levels where dealers hedge aggressively. Price tends to gravitate toward Max Pain and stall near walls.
